Etsy Angels Raise Funds For ORVAL In January

Happy New Year!
We are wishing everyone a wonderful new year filled with love, peace, joy, health and prosperity!

With this new year brings new fund raising events for the Etsy Angels team.
In January we will be raising money for Amanda's ( Wildlifer78 on Etsy ) charity ORVAL, (Ouachita River Valley Animal League) in Louisiana. The organization began in 1995 with the promise of trying to make the local shelter a better place by reducing the number of pets euthanized and by giving them resources and products to make the pets more comfortable during their limited time at the shelter. ORVAL quickly realized that a lot of animals were being surrendered because their owners could not afford vet bills. ORVAL then decided to add Vet Assistance to the list of services. Along with vet assistance, ORVAL also has a foster program to try to give pets, from the shelter, a longer and better chance of getting adopted.

Etsy Angels Helping The Helping Hands Homeless Shelter in Camdenton, Missouri

For the entire month of August the Etsy Angels team will be fund raising for the Helping Hands Homeless Shelter in Camdenton, Missouri. Helping Hands shelters men/women and children as well as families.

“People seem to have this notion that homelessness is self-inflicted,” said Ron Estep, Treasurer and Board member. “Sometimes it is. Once in a great while we see someone who, through conscious decisions about drugs or alcohol or gainful employment, you would have to say is homeless by choice. But by far, most of the clients we serve are homeless because of circumstances beyond their control. They are members of the Lake community, not strangers passing through, who need a hand up. Helping Hands is there to temporarily fill that void, providing a roof over their head, sustenance, and a bed to sleep in.” "The goal for each resident is independence. We help them achieve independence, but we’re not a dumping ground. I compare it with road signs like you see along the highway. We help them understand what they need to do and we help them do it, but the final goal is the exit sign when you’ve reached your destination.”

Etsy Angels Charity For March Is Bellwether Harbor Animal Shelter

For the month of March, the Etsy Angels will be helping raise money for Bellwether Harbor Animal Shelter located in Newaygo county, Michigan.
Having lived in Newaygo for 23 years and seeing first hand the desperate need for more animal shelters, this is a charity that is near and dear to my heart.
Before we moved from Michigan to Wyoming I had a chance to visit Bellwether Harbor, meet a few of the wonderful staff members that work there and see a little of the facility. It is truly an wonderful place for fur babies waiting for a forever home. The second photo shows an amazing training room!

Bellwether Foundation, founded in 1993 was designed for the purpose of funding Newaygo County’s (MI) veterinarians efforts to care for homeless animals. The number of them needing care grew beyond the veterinarians capacity to house them at their facilities. It became apparent a separate building was needed.

Property was purchased and plans were drawn up to construct a new and different kind of animal shelter, one that helps us promote the human animal bond. The ground breaking ceremony for Bellwether Harbor Animal Shelter was held in the fall of 2000, and in March of 2002, the construction was complete.

The daily operations of the animal shelter are partially funded by the foundation. The balance of funding relies on the generosity of individual donors, grants from other foundations, and fund raising activities.

Bellwether Foundation, a 501c3 private operating foundation, is located in the same building as the shelter and can be contacted by using the same address and phone number.

Our Mission Statement :

“Helping animals and people make a connection through education, training and adoption.”

Through the month of March members of the Etsy Angels team will be donating a percentage of their sales to Bellwether Harbor. Our Etsy jewelry shop, Jewelry Designs By CBL&CO., our Artfire Jewelry shop and our website, will be donating 25% from the sale of all jewelry purchased in the month of March.

Etsy Angels Helping "The Friendly Kitchen" For January

During January 2010, the Etsy Angels pull together to help raise money for the Friendly Kitchen of Concord, New Hampshire. This months charity was one of Carrie from TigerLily Studio choices.

A little about the Friendly Kitchen:

The Friendly Kitchen of Concord, NH seeks to provide a warm, homey place for our guests to enjoy a great meal, conversation with companions, and shelter from the New Hampshire weather. Most of the food served is donated by individuals, food drives, area businesses, the NH Food Bank, the Capital Region Food Program, and the Community Action Program. Donations of cash from individuals and foundations help us meet our overhead costs of more than $4,500 per month.

Since serving the first four meals in 1980, The Friendly Kitchen has grown tremendously. During 2008, more than 30,671 individuals were served a total of 49,440 meals. For the first six months of 2009, more than 15,700 individuals were served a total of 32,600 meals.
